THE NEW ACADEMIC YEAR HAS STARTED: WELCOME 2025! My apologies. I have not posted anything on this blog since late 2024. I was kind-of busy during the vacation period. I made a number of trips out of Suva, and I will share a bit about those in future posts. Well, this is the first post for 2025. The new academic year started this week at the Fiji National University. Classes began on Monday, February 17, 2025. Suva is still in the rainy season. We have nice bright mornings but by midday, it starts to shower. Many students are eager to start this new academic year. For some, this is their final year of studies. We wish everyone the best in their studies and work. I will make other posts soon. TH

IT IS STARTING TO RAIN IN THE WEST

Image
It seems that the rainy season has started in Fiji. I was told yesterday, October 15, by our security guard, that it has started to rain in the west, as in Nadi and Lautoka. For all these months, it was hot and dry in the west. Caption: Puddles left from rainfall in Suva in August 2023, when it was hot and dry in Nadi.  As I passed through Nadi a number of times this year, it was always hot and dry - in June, July, August and September. While it has been hot and dry in the west in all these months, Suva has had rain. Suva's weather is so different. Even in the dry season in the Pacific, from July-September, rain still falls in Suva. I was told that when I first arrived in Suva a year ago. The weather in the west is like what is experienced in Solomon Islands and PNG. Suva is different.

ANOTHER DEMO POST

 Another demo post.

THIS IS A DEMO!

Hello! This is a demo in Week 14.

FNU HAS ITS OPEN DAY! GREAT TIME!

IT IS OPEN DAY AT FNU! Photo: You can see the displays of students doing industrial arts in the education program. The Fiji National University at Nasinu, Suva, had its Open Day on October 3-4, 2024. Students volunteered and spoke to visiting high school students who wanted to learn more about the courses and programs offered at FNU. I am sure the students who participated learned a lot, as well as honing their communication skills in talking to people who came. That is part of strategic communication. It was a great learning experience.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD?

In this video Year 2 and Year 3 BMC students at FNU talk about their favourite food. Do you love the same food as them?

INTERVIEW SESSION 2: FOR FNU OPEN DAY

STUDENT INTERVIEWING A STAFF AT FNU: FOR OPEN DAY Here a student in the BMC program is interviewing a staff at Fiji National University. This is part of a project for the FNU Open Day in October in 2024.
